Weight Management Group Sessions
Want to start to change your relationship with food?
4 sessions per calendar month
Mondays at 7.30pm for 1 hour
£40 for all 4 sessions
Each session has 3 main parts:
Part One: Learn about why our brain lets us over-eat when we know it’s bad for us.
Why do you wake up feeling motivated to start a new healthier regime but by 8pm find yourself on the sofa eating chocolate…..what’s going on in your brain that’s allowing that to happen and what can you do to change those patterns of behaviour?
Part 2 – Goal setting – you choose your own goal each week
Your goal needs to be practical and it needs to be achievable – it could be to drink more water, or it could be to go for a 10 minute daily walk, or to tidy the kitchen before you go to bed….we all know that if our head is in a good place we don’t comfort eat. Everyone is different so you set your own goal. (This is done confidentially – we do not discuss each other’s goals).
Part 3 – Hypnosis to help relax you and allow your brain to process the Goal suggestion
30 minutes of guided relaxation to allow the parts of the brain that enable you to feel happier and more in control of your thoughts, feelings and behaviour to process the goal you have decided you want to achieve that week.
The Ethos Behind the Classes
• The ethos is Solution-Focused so we don’t focus on the problem (with good reason), we take the emphasis away from diet, exercise and weight and focus on feeling good and how to achieve that. We know that when we feel good we naturally make better choices about food and feel more motivated to exercise. The mind body balance is what we strive for.
• Having simple practical steps you can take to change these pattern of behaviour gets you on the right track.
• Knowing why dieting doesn’t really work in the long term but changing patterns of behaviour and reducing stress are the key to long term change.
• Solution-focused Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process. I cannot wave a magic wand which will make you lose weight - It’s about giving you the knowledge as to why you are repeating unhealthy patterns of behaviour so you can be aware of what small changes you can make to regain control and achieve your goals. Using hypnotherapy to support this process enables the subconscious mind to make the positive changes you have set for yourself. It is important to understand that change happens because you want it to.
A good weight management session is when a group member is able to describe feeling happier not because they’ve lost weight or kept to a diet but because they feel more able to cope well and feel proud of their reaction to events. Their happiness is what will make weight management possible in the long term (weight management is usually just one of the changes that a person makes when they are happier or more confident).
Classes sizes are small, fun, relaxing and supportive. You can choose to be as interactive as you want.
